I was born Black and female to a teenage single parent, fostered for 6 years by white British foster parents and later by Caribbean foster parents, before reuniting with both biological parents and moving to America at age eight. After high school in the US, we relocated to Nigeria for my A levels, university, Call to the Bar and my first professional role. 

After marriage and motherhood (the birth of the first of my two fabulous children), I returned to the US, then came full circle back to the UK, where I continued my career as a lawyer.

Growing up as “the only one” in many spaces, the only Black child in an allWhite English neighbourhood, the only English child in an American classroom, the only American in a Nigerian sixth form, taught me how to include myself long before I ever began working in Diversity and Inclusion. My lived experience is the foundation of my passion for belonging, fairness and anti-discriminatory practice.

Professionally, I have worked in the private sector as a solicitor in commercial and youth justice, and have spent over 15 years in local government across Early Years, Youth Development, Commissioning, SEND, and Children’s Transport. Alongside the day job, I chaired the Multicultural Staff Network for 11 years, the Disability Network for 8 years and the Faith Network for 3 years, championing equity and representation across the organisation.

My commitment to community is just as important to me. I have served on the Foodbank and Homelessness Response governance teams within the borough where I live, served as the Safeguarding Trustee within my church, and spent almost 20 years as a school governor across London and Essex, in member/vice-chair roles, with link responsibility for Safeguarding and Diversity and Inclusion. I am also the founder of Church Enabled, a space

created for children and young people with SEND and their families to worship and belong.

Alongside my professional and voluntary work, I am a passionate charity runner. Since 2014, I have completed events from the Chelmsford and London Marathons to the Brentwood Half, Vitality 10k, Snap SEND run and the Warwickshire Triathlon 2025, raising funds for children’s charities such as Whizz Kidz.

My greatest education has come from lived experience. My experience and empathy shape the way I lead, serve, and advocate so others feel seen, valued, and included.
